Summit County Lost & Found Program

Slopes to Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates out of Breckenridge, Colorado. We go to hotels and resorts in the area and collect all the clothing items that their guests and visitors either lose or leave behind, and then distribute them to homeless shelters, churches, and community organizations in Summit County and the Denver Metro Area.

This keeps thousands of pounds of clothes out of the landfill and gets them into the hands of the people who need them the most.

Established on April 3, 2025.

We are attempting to raise $15,000 for our first year to reach our goal of collecting and distributing 10,000 pounds of winter clothes!

Please help us divert thousands of pounds of waste from our landfills and provide winter clothing to experiencing homelessness and hardships – all at once!

Mission

Slopes to Hope diverts thousands of pounds of winter clothing from Colorado landfills by collecting clothing items lost or left behind at hotels and resorts in the Breckenridge area.

We then distribute these clothes to nonprofit organizations in Summit County, and deliver the rest to homeless shelters and community organizations in the Denver Metro Area - reducing environmental waste while providing winter clothing to people experiencing homelessness and hardships.

Why?

Tens of thousands of pounds of winter clothes are left behind or lost by guests at ski resorts and hotels every year in Colorado. Most of these clothes end up in our landfills.

There are also tens of thousands of people in Colorado who are experiencing homelessness, or cannot afford proper winter clothing.

We address these two problems with one solution.

How?

We go to the hotels and resorts in Summit County and collect these winter clothes, and then distribute them to homeless shelters, churches, and community organizations. This keeps thousands of pounds of clothes out of the landfill and gets them to the people who need them the most.

How is it funded?

We are seeking funding from grants, sponsorships, and individual donors.

We are also exploring different fundraising events, such as an auction for new ski equipment and apparel, or nights at participating resorts. Individuals and businesses may also pledge a penny per pound of clothing we collect and distribute.
